HILTON MEMPHIS: 100 YEARS OF HOSPITALITY

With our audiovisual partners at Nolan, Inc., Behind the Scenes brought to life a centennial event, recreating the spirit of welcome that has made Hilton properties personal and intimate homes away from home. 

 

Hilton Hotels and Resorts began its journey toward becoming a hospitality icon – and one of America’s top companies to work for – in Cisco, Texas in 1919. 

 

A century later, the chain had more than 6,000 hotels across the globe and enjoyed record-breaking growth, giving the company’s teams plenty to celebrate for its 100th birthday. 

 

Translating this spirit of confidence and welcome into an open physical space for employees to gather, discuss and celebrate involved a bit of a challenge. Still, that was nothing our teams had not tackled before.

 

Strategy

 

As the Memphis sunshine and clear skies smiled down on guests, outdoor space at Hilton Hotels’ corporate offices on Audubon Square was transformed for an open air meeting. Our goal was to create casual environments that felt homey and welcoming to everyone – much like Hilton properties themselves.

 

We set up crisp white tents, flanked by plants that matched existing shrubbery and foliage on the property. Under them, we placed elegant but approachable seating and tables, hosted games and activities, and arranged and provided delicious catering and dessert. 

 

Audiovisuals were expertly attended to by Nolan's. Meanwhile, between us, we ensured guests had sufficient space in which to mingle and converse, both beneath the tents and under the clear, beautiful sky.

Lastly, using milestones in hospitality and images, we created display boards that told the Hilton story, later relocated inside the building.

Outcome

 

While Hilton employees and their guests mingled, we handled the rest, ensuring a seamless experience and comfortable spaces. The results spoke for themselves – as V2 Media captured on video.

In the words of one attendee: “It was such a great day that we could all spend together, talking not only about our individual careers with Hilton, but the really incredible journey all our hotels have taken to make guest journeys unforgettable.”

 

Another said, “From the delicious food to the comfortable seats, you couldn’t have asked for more as far as a setting where all of this happened.”
